Rethinking the Wheelchair
The iBot is a new wheelchair concept. Simply amazing and addresses the fundamental needs of chair-bound people. Seeing something like this makes me wonder what other things we could revolutionize with some creative thinking. (Referenced over on the UIE blog.)

Do you know anyone who uses one?

I haven’t even seen one of these in person, yet.

The IBOT is a Dean Kamen invention and in many ways is the precursor to the Segway. He has a long list of other inventions to his credit too, and is very much the driving force behind the FIRST robotics program for high school students. Amazing guy.

Cool! I was just thinking on my way home tonight that it would be far more fulfilling to design stuff that enriches peoples lives instead of gadgets that make us “more efficient” (“capable of doing more meanless tasks wherever you are”).
Got any ideas?
