See you in another few months…
Another minority government for Canada. I suspect this goverment will not last as long as the previous one. The Tories haven’t been in power since 1993 and I’m not sure how many Conservative MPs have governing experience. If it’s a small number, the party will probably stumble early on and we will soon have another election.
At least the crook Svend Robinson didn’t get elected.
Oh yeah — I did vote in the end and it was as useless as I had thought.

“Liberal” in Canada means something totally different than in the U.S. What should we ignorant Americans expect for you guys from these Conservatives?

Both the Liberals and Conservatives are right-of-centre parties. The Liberals are a little right and the Conservaties are more right. The scaremongers liken Steven Harper (the new PM) to George Bush. If that’s true, we should start invading small countries next month.
However, the more likely story with a minority government is that nothing big will happen. The Conservatives campaign promises (PDF link) included lowering the GST, hiring more police, implementing mandatory minimum sentences, upping the child care allowence (and scrapping the Liberal plan of universal child care), supporting private medical clinics, reforming the Senate and a bunch more.

I always said (when I lived in the US) that if Bush got elected, I would move to Canada. Well, I moved to Canada before Bush got elected, but if a Bush-wannabe is PM in Canada, where do I move to now?
