Weird
I just rediscovered an old note to myself in my wallet. It says:
> Super-human computer intelligence
> Is there a God?
> Does this [computer intelligence] invalidate God?
> What if computers believed??
As I read this, I realize these are some of the themes that [Battlestar Galactica](http://scifi.com/battlestar) is covering.
Note to self: Always date your notes to self. I can’t remember when I wrote the note. I recall reading something at the time and not watching BSG, though.

How would a computer’s question about the existence of G-d have a greater or lesser affect than a person having the same question?
Wouldn’t it instead profoundly reflect the capabilities of the computer?
And in turn, wouldn’t we learn from that how impressive it is that G-d’s most complex creation (a person) is capable of doubting G-d’s existence? What an amazing G-d to allow It’s creations to doubt It is even there.
(Pretty hard for us to imagine a being that would not demand to take credit.)
Would a computer be more concerned about G-d or about its programmer?

Good questions. I hope to explore them in my upcoming novel.
Right. Anyway…
I don’t have good answers. I’ve thought about my note and my original thoughts aren’t working out. I do think creating a computer intelligence would raise some questions, but “Is there a God?” isn’t one of them.
